Mission

The Division of Academic Services plays a key role in the Dougherty County School System by ensuring that high-quality teaching and learning take place daily in our classrooms, contributing to student success and graduation. The Academic Services team oversees the implementation of Georgia's state-adopted curriculum, which establishes instructional standards and highlights the practical application of knowledge in real-world settings.

Our Content Coordinators and Early Literacy Specialists support teachers in using research-based instructional strategies to foster teacher growth and improve student achievement. Serving as a bridge between the district and the Georgia Department of Education, this division ensures the implementation of standards-based curriculum models and innovative educational approaches to sustain student success. Additionally, it manages the administration of district and state assessments, ensuring that the results are used to guide system-wide improvements, including professional development for teachers and administrators.

In summary, the Division of Academic Services is dedicated to supporting educators and students by providing the tools, resources, and guidance necessary for academic excellence. Through collaboration, innovation, and a commitment to continuous improvement, we strive to ensure every student in the Dougherty County School System receives a high-quality education that prepares them for lifelong success.
