Breakfast is provided to all Dougherty County students at no cost each and every day. Please arrive to school early to enjoy a well-balanced breakfast meal. A hungry mind and body cannot learn! Fuel up for success.
The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) is a federally assisted meal program operating in public and nonprofit private schools and residential child care institutions. It provides nutritionally balanced, low-cost or no-cost lunches to children each school day. The program was established under the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act, signed into law by President Harry Truman in 1946.
Dougherty County School District provides meals at no charge for enrolled students.

Georgia School Nutrition Association
What is the Georgia School Nutrition Association? Its mission is to advance the availability, quality and acceptance of school nutrition programs as an integral part of education. It is the professional organization of school food service employees in the state of Georgia. GSNA is a non-profit organization founded in 1951 and incorporated in Georgia in 1967. GSNA maintains a headquarters office and professional staff in Tucker, Georgia. GSNA is affiliated with the School Nutrition Association, a national non-profit organization with headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia.

What is the School Nutrition Association? It is a national, nonprofit professional organization representing more than 55,000 members who provide high-quality, low-cost meals to students across the country. The School Nutrition Association (SNA) has been advancing the availability, quality and acceptance of school nutrition programs as an integral part of education since 1946. Its mission is to advance good nutrition for all children. Its vision is healthful meals and nutrition education are available to all children. The SNA works to ensure all children have access to healthful school meals and nutrition education.
Let's Move & MyPlate Iniatives
Let’s Move! is a comprehensive initiative, launched by former First Lady Michelle Obama and dedicated to solving the challenge of childhood obesity. Combining comprehensive strategies with common sense, Let's Move! is about putting children on the path to a healthy future during their earliest months and years by providing parents with helpful information and fostering environments that support healthy choices. Providing healthier foods in our schools. Ensuring that every family has access to healthy, affordable food and, helping kids become more physically active are goals of Let's Move!.
Everyone has a role to play in reducing childhood obesity, including parents, elected officials from all levels of government, schools, health care professionals, faith-based and community-based organizations, and private sector companies. Your involvement is key to ensuring a healthy future for our children. Will you join us?
MyPlate is the first step in a multi-year effort to raise awareness and educate consumers of every age. We’ll continue working closely with former First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! initiative and other stakeholders to deliver tips and information necessary to adopt healthier eating habits balanced with physical activity. Dougherty Wellness Committee
The Dougherty Wellness Committee is a partnership between the Dougherty County School System and local healthcare partners to keep health, nutrition, and lifestyle education as priorities for students in Dougherty County.
The board meets quarterly at noon in the board room at the Dougherty County Board of Education at 200 Pine Avenue. And its meetings are open to the public.

How to find a program?
Parents/guardians, find out where your child/children can get healthy, daily meals this summer. There are multiple programs that offer summer meals at no cost. Check all these sources to see if there is a meal distribution site in your area. Those who are looking for summer meal sites can easily find locations through their cell phone or online. Options include:
