JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. -- The students and staff of Robert Harvey Elementary School were recognized by state educational leaders Tuesday for overall school improvement.
Robert Harvey Principal, Dr. Karen Riggins, accepted the Advancing Achievement School award from the Georgia Department of Education during the state's Summer Conference of the Georgia Association of Educational Leaders (GAEL).
The school was recognized for improving the academic standing of the school to the degree that it was able to come off a list of underperforming schools as determined by the federal government.
After the announcement, Riggins praised the work of the students and staff at the school saying that their dedication is the reason why the school has seen significant improvements.
“The students and staff at Robert Harvey are doing amazing things and we are grateful that people across the state are taking notice of that,” Riggins said. “We will continue to work with our students to ensure that each one has a rigorous and relevant academic experience while here at Robert Harvey.”
