SAN FRANCISCO - The Dougherty County School System Logistical Services Department has been awarded the prestigious 2023 Annual Achievement of Excellence in Procurement® (AEP) from the National Procurement Institute, Inc. (NPI). The AEP Award is earned by agencies that demonstrate a commitment to procurement excellence. This annual program recognizes procurement organizations that embrace Innovation, Professionalism, Productivity, Leadership and e-Procurement.
The district’s Logistical Services Department is responsible for overseeing the district’s purchasing program and ensuring schools and departments have the tools they need to accomplish their mission of supporting the district’s 12,000 students and 2,500 employees.
Dougherty County Schools was one of only 25 school districts across the country to earn the award. The AEP program encourages the development of excellence as well as continued organizational improvement to earn the award annually.
The department was recognized during the Sept. 28, 2023 meeting of the Dougherty County Board of Education.
"For 2023, there were only 25 school districts nationally and only ten organizations in Georgia to achieve this award. We are extremely proud that for the first time in history, the Dougherty County School System is in that number thanks to the leadership of Ms. Sharonda Thompson, Director of Logistical Services, and her team, Vachel Reese, Assistant Director of Logistical Services, and Tequila Williams, Procurement Specialist," Superintendent Kenneth Dyer said.
