ALBANY, Ga. – The Dougherty County School System (DCSS) today announced that its high school graduation rate for 2023 was 88%, an increase over the  87.13% rate from 2022, and an all-time high for the DCSS. This is the third time in the past four years that the DCSS has reached an all-time high for its graduation rate, and the fourth time in the past five years that the DCSS has had a higher graduation rate than the state, which also recorded an all-time high of 84.4%.

“We are so proud of our students for their hard work and dedication,” said Kenneth Dyer, superintendent of DCSS. “I’m also very appreciative of the educators, leaders and families that make up their support system. We are committed to providing a rigorous and relevant educational experience for all students, preparing them for success after high school.”

The graduation rates for each DCSS high school are:

Dougherty Comprehensive High School at 87.32 %

Monroe Comprehensive High School at 82.31 %

Westover Comprehensive High School at 93.25 %

The most recent rates show a continuation of an upward trend for the district’s graduation rates going back to 2020. The state average also increased, up three tenths of a point from 2022. Dyer believes the trend is proof the district’s strategic priorities are working.

“I believe that providing exceptional educational experiences for our students is having a meaningful and lasting impact, providing a solid foundation upon which they can build a successful future. That’s our ‘Why,’”Dyer said.
