ALBANY, GA – The Dougherty County Board of Education voted unanimously Monday to approve Superintendent Kenneth Dyer’s recommendation to name Steven Dudley, principal of Radium Springs Middle Magnet School of the Arts, to oversee the district’s alternative education program.
As Executive Director of Alternative Education, Dudley will support operations at the South Georgia Regional Achievement Center and at the Turning Point Academy, while spearheading a rebranding initiative for the district’s alternative education options for students who don’t thrive in traditional educational settings.
"It is indeed an honor and privilege to embark upon this next chapter of my career. I’m grateful for the experiences, opportunities, and faith placed in me to lead the faculty and staff at Radium Springs Middle Magnet School of the Arts. I’m looking forward to this new opportunity to be able to continue to serve and have an impact on the Dougherty County School System learning community," Dudley said.
In addition to his time at Radium, Dudley has served as an assistant principal at Southside Middle School, Monroe Comprehensive High School and as principal at West Town Elementary School.
Dyer recommended Dudley due to his extensive knowledge of alternative education through the lens of an administrator at all three grade clusters - elementary, middle and high.
“Mr. Dudley has served as a successful building leader at the elementary, middle and high school levels. This experience has given him a unique perspective regarding how to best meet the needs of all students, and it makes him exceptionally qualified to work with our principals to shape and refine the programs to ensure we meet the changing needs of our students,” Dyer said.
