Albany, GA – Dr. Samantha Fields, visual arts teacher at Dougherty Comprehensive High School and lead art teacher for the Dougherty County School System, has been selected as an ARTEFFECT Ambassador by the Lowell Milken Center for Unsung Heroes (LMC). Fields joins a national cohort of educators for the 2024-2025 program, which recognizes teachers advancing visual arts education and integrating historical figures into classroom projects.
The ARTEFFECT Ambassadors program, which runs from October 30, 2024, to June 2, 2025, supports educators in developing projects that explore the stories of unsung heroes through visual arts. Fields will undertake a capstone project designed to engage her students with these historical figures, offering them a unique perspective on character, values, and social impact. In addition to her work with students, she will participate in a peer-learning network and engage in six online modules focusing on storytelling, STEAM integration, and art for community impact.
Fields will also introduce her students to the national ARTEFFECT Competition, encouraging them to create and exhibit artwork inspired by unsung heroes. The fellowship includes a stipend and materials credit to support her capstone project and related activities.
