ALBANY, Ga. – For the sixth year in a row, the 4C Academy Robotics team is headed to the FIRST Robotics World Championship, continuing a remarkable legacy of excellence in STEM competition. The team clinched its spot at the international event after a standout season capped by winning both the Impact Award and the Engineering Inspiration Award.
The World Championship, which will be held April 16-19 in Houston, Texas, is the culmination of the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) season, where top-performing teams from around the globe showcase their skills in engineering, innovation, and collaboration. The event draws more than 35,000 students from over 40 countries and is recognized as one of the premier youth robotics competitions in the world.
4C Academy, a part of the Dougherty County School System, has qualified for the World Championship every year it has fielded a team—a rare and commendable feat. The 2025 season marks the sixth consecutive year the program has earned a berth at the international competition.
The Impact Award (formerly known as the Chairman’s Award) is considered the most prestigious award in FIRST Robotics, honoring teams that best embody the mission of FIRST and serve as role models for others. Meanwhile, the Engineering Inspiration Award celebrates outstanding success in advancing respect and appreciation for engineering within a team’s school and community.
The team, composed of high school students from across Dougherty County and surrounding areas, designed and built a robot capable of competing in this year’s FRC challenge, CRESCENDO℠, which focuses on musical-themed tasks involving precision, strategy and teamwork.
