Mcghee

ALBANY, GA – The Dougherty County Board of Education voted recently to name Valerie McGhee as the new principal at Radium Springs Elementary School.

McGhee, the school’s current assistant principal, will replace current principal Bruce Bowles who is retiring at the end of this school year.

McGhee has been an educator in the district since 2010. Since that time she has risen through the ranks serving as a teacher, summer school coordinator, instructional coach and assistant principal.

“Mrs. McGhee knows Radium Springs better than almost anyone,” Superintendent Kenneth Dyer said. “She’s a familiar face to the students, parents, faculty and staff. More importantly, she possesses the skill set to be an effective instructional and operational leader who can build upon Radium’s recent progress and take it to the next level.”

McGhee holds a Bachelor's Degree and Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education from Albany State University, a Specialist Degree in Elementary Education from Nova Southeastern  and an Educational Leadership Certification from Valdosta State University. She is also a graduate of the district’s Aspiring Principals Academy.

"I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to serve as principal at Radium Springs Elementary School. It is a privilege to lead and support our students, staff, and community on this journey of growth and learning," McGhee said.
