Dear Lincoln 5th Grade Parents,
First and foremost, thank you so much for allowing your child to attend today’s field trip to the Georgia National Fair in Perry, Georgia. We apologize for the delay in the return time. Although we initially estimated the students would be back between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., the buses have unfortunately been delayed due to traffic.
I’ve just received an update that the buses are in Perry, Georgia, and are now loading for the return trip. I will remain here at the school until all students, faculty, and staff have safely returned. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding during this time, and we apologize for any inconvenience the delay may cause.
The new estimated arrival time is between 8:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The buses are on their way!
Respectfully,
Dr. Angela D. Shumate
Principal

The district is aware of a threat circulating around the state on social media. It appears that the schools mentioned were extracted from a list of Title 1 schools listed on the GaDOE website.
Although we believe this to be a hoax, out of an abundance of caution, we are placing all schools on a soft lockdown posture until the posts are investigated thoroughly.
The safety and security of our students, employees and guests is our number one priority.
